Instructions on pressing image:
To press a Direct-to-Film (DTF) transfer sheet onto a t-shirt, follow these step-by-step instructions:
1. Prep Your Press and Shirt
Set your heat press temperature and time:
100% Cotton: 300°F–320°F (150°C–160°C) for 12–15 seconds
Polyester / Blends: 275°F–290°F (135°C–143°C) for 10–12 seconds (lower temp prevents dye migration)
Set pressure to Medium–Heavy (around 50–60 PSI).
Pre-press the shirt: Press the blank t-shirt for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and smooth out wrinkles.
2. Position and First Press
Align the transfer: Place the DTF sheet print-side down onto the shirt where you want the graphic.
Cover with protection: Place a sheet of parchment paper or a Teflon sheet over the transfer.
First Press: Close the heat press and apply heat for the specified time (10–15 seconds).
3. Peel the Transfer
Important: Check your film manufacturer's instructions to confirm if your sheet is Cold Peel or Hot Peel. Most standard DTF sheets are Cold Peel.
Cold Peel (Most Common): Remove the shirt from the press and let it cool down completely to the touch (1–2 minutes) before smoothly peeling the film off from one corner.
Hot Peel: Peel the film immediately within 2–3 seconds after opening the press.
4. Final Post-Press (Crucial for Durability)
Cover the design: Place a sheet of parchment paper or a soft cotton cloth over the exposed print.
Second Press: Press for another 5–10 seconds at the same temperature.
Tip: Using parchment paper gives the design a nice matte finish, while Teflon leaves a slight gloss finish.
Result: This seals the design into the fabric fibers, improving wash durability and softening the texture.
